***

After I'd warmed up and removed the salt from my hair in the shower, I nestled in a comfortable pair of shorts and a long-sleeved shirt. I opened the refrigerator to get a drink, but we were out of iced tea. I needed a quick fix of sugar, so I juiced three lemons, threw a spoonful of iced tea mix in the empty pitcher and filled it with water.

All I was missing was ice. "Liam, I'm going to get ice," I shouted.

The condo was quaint, and Liam was always in earshot when I spoke loudly. It was a pain to warn him before I did something as simple as get ice—too much like asking for permission—but the ice machine was in the corner of the building outside, coupled with a few vending machines.

As I reached my destination, the creep from the pool stumbled to his door. I froze when he spotted me. He leered in my direction, a smirk on his face, clearly inebriated. "Hey gorgeous, how are you?"

I concentrated on my task and filled the tray to the brim.

"Your hot bod is about to give me a heart attack. I might need resuscitation." The line was slurred.

Ice in hand, I ignored him.

"Come on. Be nice."

I shrugged, giving him a frosty get back stare as he closed in on me. He placed himself so I either had to stay and talk or walk right by him to leave. Even from a couple feet, he reeked of weed and alcohol.

"Step aside."

"It's a free country." He laughed like he was the funniest, most charming guy in the world.

I was not in the mood to argue with a disgusting drunk, so I hugged the tray to my chest and marched around him. Up to this point, I hadn't expected him to touch me, thinking he was a harmless nuisance. I was wrong.

The jackass squeezed my butt as I passed, and I froze. Taking it as a good sign, he palmed me once again. His slimy hand made my entire being shudder in revulsion, and I saw red.

The tray fell from my hands, ice cubes scattering on the stones as I punched him straight in the face. The sleaze-bag's eyes widened in disbelief as blood spurted out of his nose. My knuckles whined in pain, but I was fucking proud.

"Bitch!" His groping hand flew to stop the hemorrhage.

I strutted back to the condo without looking back. "Watch your language, or you'll get a black eye too." To hell with ice, I was afraid of what I might do if I stayed a second longer.

Liam was leaning against the opened patio door, arms crossed. He hadn't missed a lick of what had transpired. His signature smirk greeted me, "Summer love?"

"Oh, shut up!" But I could tell from his bright eyes that he was impressed.

I headed straight to the sink to wash my hands, not wanting a single cell of that guy to remain on me. I could still feel his repugnant grip on my butt cheek and dried my hands hard enough to scrape skin off.
